Dancing Aamas

In 2016-17, Sonam Choekyi Lama and Ryan Elisabeth Reid began visiting Matatirtha Old Age Home, a nursing home for elderly Nepali women who have been abandoned by their families. Wanting to do something creative with the women living there, they started making quick drawings of the women. Then, at the aamas' prompting, they began co-creating installations and photographing the women within the work they made. Here is a selection of photographs taken throughout their time there, some in response to movement questions, some in response to installation environment.
